What is AutoCAD?

AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software that is used for precise 2D and 3D drafting, design, and modeling with solids, surfaces, mesh objects, documentation features, and more. It includes features to automate tasks and increase productivity such as comparing drawings, counting, adding objects, and creating tables. It also comes with seven industry-specific toolsets for electrical design, plant design, architecture layout drawings, mechanical design, 3D mapping, adding scanned images, and converting raster images. What differentiates AutoCAD from other similar products?

AutoCAD has set a standard for drafting and creating Layouts. The sheet management & layout system in AutoCAD is what differentiates it from other similar products.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

AutoCAD's Xref feature is something that would make design life easier.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The rendering and the 3d modelling features of AutoCAD are still difficult and complicated to me.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Anyone getting into the Design Drafting field can blindly download AutoCAD to give themselves an experience of how things should be produced and managed. Especially when it comes to 2D design (Plans, Sections, Elevations & Details).
