What differentiates Automate from other similar products?

The Drag-and-Drop 'scripting' with fill-in interfaces for the details means I don't have to know other coding or OS syntax to get things done. This means I can focus on the applications. However, if I choose to use Groovy or Go or PowerShell or even DOS scripts, I can drag in an Automate tool that lets me point to folder locations and execute them.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love the 'no coding needed' approach and the fact that everything is included. I don't have to buy separate module packs for additional or improved features for file-transfers or data transformation.

What do you dislike most about this product?

We tried BPA/Enterprise (Plus/Ultimate) a couple times. The problem that kept driving us back to Regular/Desktop was that we could not make one BPA/Enterprise instance use a different set of global constants in the development vs production environments. We wanted to be able to say "Here's a Task; run it on the Development server with DEV values. Okay, it works. Now run it in Production with PROD values." This is critical for IT development because it allows us to build tasks without causing problems to production systems and separates the production errors (and resulting HelpDesk tickets) that affect business from non-production bugs.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Even if the people creating Tasks (jobs, workflows, whatever the vendor calls them) enjoy writing OS and programming language code, consider this product because it makes application integration easier and OS or language scripts will augment Automate's intrinsic flexibility and power.

What differentiates Automate from other similar products?

much of its functions as a set it and forget it solution, aside from regular maintenance and run / archive checks

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

it just works.

What do you dislike most about this product?

peridic disconnects with tasks and schedules and has to be reloaded.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

have regular scheduled updates and schedules maintenance. Also, having it run without Machine login is key to security.

Pick one manual and repeatable operation that drains your human resources (ex: entering data from a source document (Excel workbook) into your application), download a trial version of Automate, and start to develop a task to perform that work. The ease of use and versatility of the tool will be evident quickly.
