What differentiates Azure DevOps from other similar products?

Azure DevOps offers a good sort of tools for a CI/CD environment and it's really useful. We are moving from a static build model to an automatic one then VSTS has the tools we'd like to continue growing within the future. We started using VSTS, now Azure DevOps, as a code repository only and that is the most use within our organization.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Azure DevOps bundles all the useful tools together in a seamless way. Sprint boards, Code repositories, Pipelines etc. all can be managed from a single application. Facilitates easy collaboration between technical members and business or product owners. Facilitates parity between different environments by providing a single source of truth for all pipelines.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Azure DevOps Sprint boards can be improved, similar to Jira (this can be my bias). Teams and Azure DevOps integration can be improved in-terms of updates of stories or tasks. Pipeline job logs and their web console views can be improved

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is well suited for large and distributed teams, developing cloud-native applications in a fast fail-fast approach. It will enable seamless development and support different platforms in integrations. It is of less value if the teams are small and located together and also in cases where the application runs on legacy software.

What differentiates Azure DevOps from other similar products?

Azure DevOps a Microsoft product definitely has a huge community for bug fixes and new features roll out every year, and that I think makes azure devops stand out of its class. With a huge integration and automation platform makes it even more robust and flexible. It not only provides devops platform but comes with a huge package of ALM features and Project management platform.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Working in multi project scenario needs a devops tool for maintaining automated deployment and a ALM tool for keeping track of the business requirements , and to generate metrics based on various inputs and outputs. Azure devops takes all the burden and helps achieving the above mentioned scenario. Azure DevOps gives real-time communication among teams ensuring efficiency in all stages of the lifecycle. Me as a developer , I find Git integration with azure as a key feature for faster productivity. Integration with development IDEs is also very easy. What do you dislike most about this product?

I find azure devops interesting to work with, but there are some drawbacks which the team can work upon like there is no service for document management( Something similar to sharepoint). Compared to other tools like JIRA ,the application is not so much customizable.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

As most of the companies are shifting their interest to automate their build and deployment, so I think robust source code control and devops pipelining is a must. As it comes with ALM features as well projects can be tracked from start to finish with the ability to direct it in correct path. Its also helpful for QA team as they can directly monitor and provide feedback within the product.

What differentiates Azure DevOps from other similar products?

DevOps pipelines and the integration with automated testing and test cases differentiates Azure DevOps. You can spin up a VM, run automated tests, then shut down the VM, and store the results and pass them off to test cases.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love that Azure DevOps (for software testing) hosts all testing functionality in one place. No more going back and forth between testing tools.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Terraform can be a little intimidating for new users, but once setup, it's great.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Try it out and do some research. You will not be disappointed.
