What differentiates Backup Exec from other similar products?

I think Veritas Backup Exec has so many granular configurations that I couldn't see it in other products.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I mean, you can configure so many resources to be protected via console and offers granular restore also, which is an option that many other solutions do not have.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Not bein able to restore objects of Databases such as tables, stored procedures, etc. They've done a great job with single files, why not take it to a whole new level doing the same thing database wise.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is a great product, if you're considering to implement an stable solution for data protection, you can go for it. But, if you're looking for a solution that gives you some extra value, you might need something else.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

the integration with nutanix is quite simple

What do you dislike most about this product?

the product in the web part is more user friendly, but it is not as complete as in the administrator console, there are many functionalities that you have to go through the console part, it is quite complicated and not user friendly

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

if you have no experience in the product I would not recommend it, the existing documentation is quite complicated and the administrator console is not very user friendly.

What differentiates Backup Exec from other similar products?

Veritas Backup Exec has secured all our systems and files since we started using this. We have not had any issues regarding performance or threats since we are using this. Its functionality requires minimum efforts and requirements that’s why it is very easy to install and implement.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Veritas Backup Exec is very simple to use and their installation process is also very simplified as do not need to do any complex process. They provide us the chance to improve the apps and system by improving the security of our system and files and making them threat free.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Veritas Backup Exec needs to make its pricing more reasonable and affordable. They also need to improve their notification system as sometimes we do not receive any kind of notification and changes are made without our consent. They need to add a discovery-type module for the emails.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Veritas Backup Exec is best recommended as it allows us to have a detailed view of our system and remove the threats.

Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms Backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.

Replication for Long Term Storage and Disaster Recovery Onsite backup data is replicated and stored to a public cloud (AWS, Azure). Can also include restore-to-cloud capabilities for Disaster Recovery as a Service.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Application Awareness Application consistent backup and granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint.

Deduplication Implementation Deduplication of redundant data blocks is implemented by the solution. Deduplication can be at source, target, or globally (source and target).

File Explorer Granular Restore Individual files can be located and restored from backup media without the need for full system mounting and restore.

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.

Backup Monitoring and Reporting Backup and replication are continually monitored for status and effectiveness. Detailed reporting is available on successful and unsuccessful operations.

Virtual Machine Backup Automatically discovers and protects VMs as they come online, move, and change. Production VMs are replicated to a secondary data store.

Integration With Storage Arrays Integrates with APIs from major storage vendors (NetApp, HP, Dell EMC) to leverage capabilities in these arrays such as data snapshots and replication.

Backup of Cloud Based Data In addition to targeting backups to the cloud, the solution also has the capability to back up primary data and services already in the cloud.
