What differentiates Canvas from other similar products?

Canvas seems different than other similar products because it's interface and structure are compatible for k-12 education, higher education and even state testing. It is usable in different sectors, which is nice because you don't need to learn a different system.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of canvas is that I am able to manage different courses on the same platform without have to re-log in or out. I like the simplicity associated with the access to my courses, quizzes and data.

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I truly dislike about the product is that it is so glitchy when it comes to uploading videos. Not only does it take many minutes to upload one video, but it also sometimes will not accept your videos and will require you to record directly onto their platform, which can be tedious.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would recommend you take your time learning to navigate through the courses you are signed up for. Make sure you know how to take quizzes and assessments and make sure you are careful when submitting quizzes because there were many times when a test was submitted with just putting the arrow over the button. It is very sensitive when it comes to submitting assessments.

What differentiates Canvas from other similar products?

Canvas is both intuitive and professional in appearance. You can use this product in the 6-12 market and also use it at the collegiate/adult learner level.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Moving seamlessly from the teacher's view to the student's view is very helpful in ensuring that your course is set up correctly. When a student is having difficulty finding information, you can easily take a student-view screenshot and send it to them as guidance.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The high cost of Canvas comes with the required training. The product is intuitive enough that most shouldn't need training and significant support on the product. For those with doctoral-level degrees in instructional systems design and technology, the training is a waste of dollars. Besides the free version with limited storage, purchasing Canvas without training/support is unfortunately not an option.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

While Canvas is not innovative in the sense of the word, it is, in my opinion, the best LMS on the market. Until another product tries to truly disrupt how online education is managed and implemented, consider Canvas your best option.

Pros

  • Security Protects
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Enables Productivity

Cons

  • Less Generous
