Excellent cloud analytics data warehouse with outstanding query performance. It ended up being cheaper for all of the user queries than we thought it would be. We are still working to optimize data ingestion and transformation as we transferred everything directly from our old Cloudera Hadoop platform.

Performance is amazing and you do not have to worry about scaling servers or storage.

Data ingestion and transformation into BigQuery can be somewhat costly so beware that you will want to optimize as much as possible to save money.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Find a great implementation partner who has implemented BigQuery several times in the past so that you can partner with them. Beware of data ingestion and data transformation costs because those can add up quickly, but we found that BigQuery query costs were much lower than we forecasted.

Google BigQuery provides many functionalities to detect query data scan and query execution time before execution , allowing you to set policies to prevent poorly written queries from getting executed. It is very east to setup and performant

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The east of use with google bigquery is very high, it also allows to connect google sheet to google big query via Connected Sheets feature

What do you dislike most about this product?

the pricing is not very competitive, it has compute and storage cost , because of the storage cost component you are charged for data which is loaded in big query

For any team working in google cloud , using google bigquery is a simple solution to setup a data warehouse which is performant when you have a smaller team and want to get results faster
