What is your favorite aspect of this product?
If I had to pick a favorite aspect of Google Chat, it'd be the tight integration with Google Workspace, especially how effortlessly it connects with Docs, Sheets, and Calendar.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The thing I’d dislike most about Google Chat is its limited third-party app ecosystem compared to competitors like Slack or Microsoft Teams.

It's perfect for teams that already use the Google ecosystem. But if you want more sophisticated collaboration features, look at other alternatives as well.

What differentiates Google Chat from other similar products?
Google Chat sneaked into our HR workflow almost naturally, thanks to our heavy reliance on Google Workspace. At first, it felt like “just another chat tool,” but the way it weaves into the bigger Google ecosystem made it feel like it was built specifically for the way we already work. It’s light, fast, and doesn’t feel like it's trying too hard — which honestly is pretty refreshing when you're juggling onboarding documents and interview schedules at the same time.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
One thing that really makes Google Chat shine? The seamless linking with Google Docs, Sheets, and Calendar. We can drop a doc right into the chat, open it in a new tab, edit live while chatting about it — no downloads, no frantic “where’s the latest version?” emails. It’s the kind of quiet productivity boost you don’t notice until you try to work without it.
What do you dislike most about this product?
If I’m being picky, the biggest annoyance is that notifications can get a bit overwhelming if you’re part of multiple chat spaces.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Using Google Chat has definitely smoothed out communication inside HR, and between HR and other teams. It’s casual enough for quick check-ins but structured enough that we don’t lose important conversations. It’s helped make us more agile, which honestly matters a lot when you’re managing everything from performance reviews to surprise resignations.
