What is Google Classroom?

Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profit organisations and anyone with a personal Google account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect – inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate and stay organised. Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect and mark assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features such as the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organised.

Seamless Google Workspace Integration Built for Google Apps: Unlike standalone LMS platforms, Classroom is tightly integrated with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Meet, making it effortless to: Attach files directly from Drive. Collaborate in real time on Docs/Sheets. Schedule video calls via Google Meet.

simplicity and ease of use and also cost free for schools

What do you dislike most about this product?

Limited Grading & Assessment Features No built-in plagiarism checker (unlike Turnitin integration in Canvas or Moodle). Rubrics are basic—no support for weighted criteria, dynamic scoring, or advanced analytics. No anonymous grading (which can help reduce bias). Poor Customization & Organization No subfolders in Classwork—topics can get messy with many assignments. Cannot batch-edit assignments (e.g., shifting multiple due dates at once). No personalized learning paths (students can’t progress at their own pace easily).
