IBM Storage Protect™ provides comprehensive data resilience for physical file servers, virtual environments, and a wide range of applications. Organizations can scale up to manage billions of objects per backup server. Clients can reduce backup infrastructure costs with built-in data efficiency capabilities and the ability to migrate or copy data to tape, public cloud services, and on-premises object storage. IBM Storage Protect can also store IBM Storage Protect Plus data, allowing companies to take advantage of their existing investment for long-term data retention and disaster recovery.

What differentiates IBM Storage Protect from other similar products?

It offers data protection and back-up irrespective of where the data is hosted whether in virtual, cloud or physical environments.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Its a stable platform and this leads even to stability in its data management operations and this assures data security. Powers our operations effectively by storing information from our business systems and allows easy retrieval of the same. Its a low-cost platform and this ensures that most companies are able to acquire and use it with ease.

What do you dislike most about this product?

For now there is no mobile application of the platform and it would be prudent if the vendor provides the same as this would further simplify its usage and increase its usage.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Its a reliable solution and will help you back-up your data with the required ease and reliability.

With it you can build your own solutions with the help of spectrum storage which is cost effective compared with other platforms.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It has a great technical support that are very reliable to work with. Also with it i can manage and control any backup performance that i need without too much struggle.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It is a great tool to work with i have no dislike towards it.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

To give it a try since it is a great tool to work with it.

Virtual Machine Backup Automatically discovers and protects VMs as they come online, move, and change. Production VMs are replicated to a secondary data store.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Analytics Built-in real-time and historical reporting and analytics on SLAs, performance, and resource consumption, as well as predictive capabilities to plan & optimize.

Application Awareness Application consistent backup and granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint.

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.

Backup of Cloud Based Data In addition to targeting backups to the cloud, the solution also has the capability to back up primary data and services already in the cloud.

Integration With Storage Arrays Integrates with APIs from major storage vendors (NetApp, HP, Dell EMC) to leverage capabilities in these arrays such as data snapshots and replication.

Replication for Long Term Storage and Disaster Recovery Onsite backup data is replicated and stored to a public cloud (AWS, Azure). Can also include restore-to-cloud capabilities for Disaster Recovery as a Service.
