Three tools - the good, the bad, and the ugly
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Logi Symphony from other similar products?
Logi Symphony is actually a collection of three disparate products. One of these is Logi Info, by Logi itself. The other two came from acquisitions - Logi Report, formerly JReport, and Logi Composer, formerly ZoomData. The three products do different things. Logi Report is your traditional "pixel layout" report for printed products like invoices. Logi Composer is a BI tool for making interactive dashboards and reports. Logi Info is a tool to make web applications with BI visualisation widgets. So, it's quite unique in this regard.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Logi Composer is the standout of the three, and is a fast Linux/Postgres app with regular updates and which performs well. While it uses Postgres internally, it connects to many data sources such as SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake, and more, and you can add your own provided there is a JDBC driver. You make a connection to a database, create 'data sources' - i.e., queries, then make visualisations off those, then make dashboards/reports. What I really like too is you can use user-assigned variables in your connection strings or queries, helping you make a single set of connections and visuals that bring a lot of flexibility.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Logi Info is by far the weakest part of the whole collection. Logi Info isn't even a tool for BI people, it's for ... well, not even for software developers. Fundamentally, Logi Info is an XML-based application development tool that runs on top of either .NET or Java. Its XML tools provide a range of BI-style widgets but it's tediously manual to lay them out and if you want to make the app look good or act in certain ways you have to resort to custom CSS and JavaScript. If you're a BI developer, this isn't a tool for you. If you're a software developer, you're better off with Visual Studio and some nuget widgets.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Consider carefully what you really want, and whether you need the whole Logi Symphony suite or are better served with one product only. And if that product you believe you need is Logi Info then have another think. Also, check the licensing terms - you can negotiate for unlimited servers/apps/users.
Pros
- Respectful
- Trustworthy
- Caring
- Client Friendly Policies
Cons
- Under Delivered
- Inhibits Innovation
- Less Performance Enhancing

Drill-down capabilities for granular insights
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Logi Symphony from other similar products?
Logi Symphony differentiates itself from other BI tools through its deep embedding, white-labeling, and developer customization capabilities. Unlike Tableau or Power BI, which prioritize drag-and-drop interfaces for standalone dashboards, Logi Symphony is designed to integrate analytics seamlessly into applications—making it ideal for SaaS providers and enterprises like Nielsen. It offers full white-label support, allowing dashboards to reflect the host application’s branding with no visible third-party traces. Developers have granular control via HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, enabling custom workflows, event handling, and UI integration. I
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Logi Symphony is its deep customization for embedded analytics. It gives developers full control to seamlessly integrate, brand, and tailor dashboards within any application—offering a truly native user experience. This flexibility sets it apart from typical BI tools limited by prebuilt interfaces and rigid embedding options.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The biggest drawback of Logi Symphony is its steep learning curve for non-technical users. While powerful, its extensive customization options can overwhelm users without development skills, requiring significant setup and training time compared to more intuitive tools like Tableau or Power BI. Performance may also lag with very large datasets.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you’re considering Logi Symphony, ensure you have skilled developers to handle setup and custom embedding. Budget time for training non-technical users. Test performance with your largest datasets and plan infrastructure accordingly. Take advantage of its white-labeling and multi-tenancy only if you truly need deep, seamless integration.
