ManageEngine AssetExplorer is a web-based IT Asset Management (ITAM) software that helps you monitor and manage assets in your network from Planning phase to Disposal phase. AssetExplorer provides you with a number of ways to ensure discovery of all the assets in your network. You can manage software & hardware assets, ensure software license compliance and track purchase orders & contracts - the whole nine yards! AssetExplorer is very easy to install and works right out of the box.

What differentiates ManageEngine AssetExplorer from other similar products?

AssetExplorer is a very in-depth program. Having a central hub for hardware, software, and license management is incredibly helpful for organization. Gone are the days of managing licenses via excel spreadsheets on a fileshare.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It was very easy to get started as an administrator, even though there is a lot to learn on a more in-depth level.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The hosting service on our severs would crash time to time and the interface would become unavailable. It wasn't always the easiest to get started back up and responding.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Definitely. We are going through a merger and had it win out over other options moving forward.

What differentiates ManageEngine AssetExplorer from other similar products?

It is a great product when it comes to delivering asset management. It has far the best most desirable system interface, password service, remote desktop, and calendar service. The remote desktop service is a secured and efficient tool for working remotely and accessing secured data from any location. The asset management feature also includes a feature which gives a detailed overview of last login, hardware change history, and software installations. These features make ManageEngine AssetExplorer a unique tool, very different from its competitors. It is a highly effective tool in large organizations.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The remote control capabilities is my favorite aspect of this product. It is highly functional and provides a breadth of features that allows my team to remote access end users machine by connecting to their active sessions and actively working on their system. This makes it quicker to respond to their issues and effective to work on their machines. This feature has made our department more responsive to issues and we are able to find solution to multiple issues happening at same time.

What do you dislike most about this product?

There is an record merging issue, it is hard to merge multiple records of customers belonging to the same issue. This leads to functional problem in tracking the issues. If records are merged if would be easy to search back on those record to track progress of a particular issue. The other issue is with reporting, it is hard to report internal issues with the tool. The customer service team does provide some relief to this issue, but it takes plenty amount to resolve issues.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I highly recommend this product to organizations seeking to explore options on asset management. This tool is highly efficient tool on asset management and does provide various services and features to perform various asset management functions. Remote operations capabilities is the turning point for the purchase. Overall, a good tool providing high efficiency and high magnitude of use.
