What differentiates Microsoft SQL Server from other similar products?

Microsoft SQL Server stands out with its integration capabilities across the Microsoft ecosystem, strong reporting tools like SSRS, and user-friendly interfaces, making it easier to use compared to other database solutions.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Its seamless integration with Microsoft tools and strong performance for transactional workloads, combined with excellent support for analytics, are my favorite aspects.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The licensing costs can be high, and there is a lack of some advanced features found in other databases, like Oracle’s flashback technology or more flexible partitioning options.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Evaluate your organization’s needs, especially around analytics and integration with Microsoft tools. Be prepared to budget for licensing costs, and ensure proper training for IT staff to maximize its potential.

What differentiates Microsoft SQL Server from other similar products?

Microsoft SQL Server is different from similar products in that it has allowed us to easily scale our business (claims) and create scripts of the analysis we need to do on a continuous basis rather than have to re-create them script every single time. SQL was also able to easily take our data and break it down into a format where we could set the instructions and allow our analysts to do their job efficiently

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of the product is the data management portion of the product. Since we are able to save the scripts that we have created we are able to have our employees work efficiently and not take the time to re-create instructions every time we needed the analysis to be run. Since the data is stored we can also quickly and easily go back and reference any of the information we have already used and analyzed.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The one thing that I dislike about this product is that as we grow we have been restricted by the size limits within the server to analyze data and are now getting dangerously close to our data being too large to be uploaded to the server. AI was able to take a look and the file size maximum has not changed since we implemented the product and our data has grown tremendously since then so we would expect to be able to upload more data or at least purchase more memory but that does not seem to be the case.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are a growing company I would recommend the SQL server as an easy and efficient way for your data to be available to be uploaded and analyzed in an easily digestible format. However, as you grow you may need to onboard additional SQL software's or resources to keep up with the large amount of data you will have. However, I will say that the customer service is second to none and they will help you in any way that they can.
