Edge Image Creator: Fast but Limited

Likeliness to Recommend

6 /10

What differentiates Microsoft Designer from other similar products?

Its seamless integration directly into the Edge browser, making it incredibly convenient to generate AI images without switching tabs or installing extra software. Powered by DALL·E, it offers quick, high-quality image generation from simple text prompts perfect for creating visuals on the fly. Unlike standalone AI art tools, Edge Image Creator is built right into the browser’s sidebar, allowing users to brainstorm, browse, and create all in one place. Plus, it’s free to use, with a "boost" system that speeds up generation times something not commonly found in other free AI image generators.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of Microsoft Edge Image Creator is how seamlessly it’s built into the browser. Being able to generate AI images directly from the sidebar without needing to switch tabs or open a separate app makes it incredibly convenient for quick, on-the-fly content creation. Whether I’m brainstorming ideas, designing social media posts, or enhancing a project, having that creative tool just a click away saves time and keeps everything in one place. Plus, the fact that it’s free to use is a huge bonus!

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I dislike most about Microsoft Edge Image Creator is the limited customization options. While it’s great for generating quick images, there’s not much control over the final look — like adjusting styles, refining details, or editing parts of the image. Once the image is generated, you’re pretty much stuck with what you get unless you start over with a new prompt. More editing flexibility would make it even more powerful for creative projects.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I’d recommend exploring its capabilities with different types of prompts to see how creative you can get — the wording you use really impacts the results. Make sure to take advantage of the "boosts" for faster generation, and if you run out, check Microsoft Rewards to earn more. It’s great for quick, casual designs or brainstorming ideas, but if you need highly polished or customizable visuals, be prepared to use an additional editing tool afterward. Lastly, since it’s built right into the Edge browser, keep it in mind for projects where you need fast, on-the-spot visuals without leaving your workflow.
