What differentiates Microsoft Power Query from other similar products?

Power query act like ETL tool as well and anyone having excel understanding would be able to use it in effective manner. 1) Feature such as transforming, Data enrichment 2) Get data features from SQL sever and multiple data bases 3) Combining multiple files on fly 4) Transforming data such as - Pivot / Unpivot - Splitting / Merging Columns - Filtering Data - Creating custom columns - Deleting header / blank / error rows - Changing data type

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Get data and data transformation is the best features in power query. With Power Query (known as Get & Transform in Excel), you can import or connect to external data, and then shape that data, for example remove a column, change a data type, or merge tables, in ways that meet your needs. Then, you can load your query into Excel to create charts and reports.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Merging multiple file takes time

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Easy to use and reliable user friendly. Power Query is a built into Excel which is great for users who need data prep but don't need a full suite of analytic tools. It can connect to a variety of sources and provides basic data prep features like filtering, adding/removing columns, and calculated columns.

What differentiates Microsoft Power Query from other similar products?

Power Query connects to a wide range of data sources, it has been improving from time to time to provide more features to user. It builds quick interactive and intuitive queries.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Power Query is easy to use for data analysis including summarizing, sorting and filtering data. Well integration with Excel therefore excel power user finds it useful to take the data analysis to next step than advanced excel. It automates many steps and user just need to refresh with updated data to get results accordingly. A wonderful feature of Power Query is that it documents all steps and these steps may be edited later.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Sometimes Power Query takes excessive time to load or refresh. It is sensitive rather intuitive, if a user change name of any column later then it is not updated afterwards where it has been referred later. Similarly if any one delete a column subsequently then it is not updated automatically in the steps after this action. Its functions (language) i.e. M Query is case-sensitive causing inconvenience. A user if not familiar with Excel upto advance level may find it difficult to understand Power Query.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Power Query connects to a variety of data sources on the other hand it enables data analysis effectively including cleansing, filtering, sorting data. Particularly if a user familiar with advanced excel and he/ she wants to transform data analysis from conventional excel to query backed excel.
