What is Selenium?

Selenium automates browsers. That's it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well.

What differentiates Selenium from other similar products?

Selenium stands out with compared to other other tools is that it is open source and free to use. Also, another point in its favor is, its interface which is pretty simple to understand. Selenium can be easily worked out by manual testers which are the main target to switch your skills and be in automation testing rather to be in Manual testing. Code can be written in any languages like java, dotnet, ruby, python etc. Supports multiple browsers and can be used on any operating system.

Features and benefits of using selenium like: - It is very easy to install and understand. - Being open source, it has the best community support - Only core java basic knowledge is required to start with selenium - It can be used on multiple frameworks and languages - It has inbuild methods which helps in coding for beginners

What do you dislike most about this product?

Without any programming language one can not easily use selenium tool which is the main basic problem for manual testers and even who doesn't have any coding interest. It is not script less automation tool. Doesn't support for desktop applications and is more inclined towards web based applications.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is an open source tool and can be easily used for training whoever wants to learn, mainly good for manual testers to upskill and switch to automation testing which has wider exposure now in the current market.
