Amazing POS that does just about anything!
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Square POS from other similar products?
Square POS is an outstanding product in more than it processes transactions, but offers a back office that can generate many reports, view customer data and statistics, manage employee timesheets/payroll, receipt customization, generate invoices and the ability to integrate to other products. You may not feel you need all of this at first but whether a small or large business, the features offered are a game changer for your business!
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Square POS is the customization of transactions. You can create custom items and give discounts, allow the bill to be split, accept various payment options, ability to choose type of receipt, and capture customer information which can be grouped at a later time.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The only dislike I have about Square POS are the fees, but overall the product's features are worth the cost.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Anyone who processes transactions would benefit from Square POS. The portability and customization features are perfect for just about anyone!

Perfect for beginners, but lacks features

What differentiates Square POS from other similar products?
Square does a phenomenal job at integrating brick-and-mortar stores with online sales. It's the only POS I've found that actually live-syncs inventory between the two (avoids OOS issues with curbside pickup orders). With customer management square is also ahead of the game for small businesses- receipts are easy to send digitally without inconveniencing the customer. The mobile app also makes inventory management much easier, although a camera-based barcode scanner would make it more practical.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The professional execution of digital receipts, curbside pickup, the mobile app, and effective customer tracking for very small businesses are my favorite aspects of Square.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Square lacks many, many common features that forced us to outgrow it fast. Inventory tracking exists but is extremely feature-poor. For basic necessities like tracking your cost-of-goods-sold or margins, there's a large subscription fee (that includes almost no other features). It seems Square has spent more time breaking off standard features into subscriptions than actually innovating on them. There's very little customization with your online store. There is no EBT processing capability. Lastly, Square is extremely inflexible with hardware. Between Ipad and what Square sells is all you get to work with, and it will cost you.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Square is perfect for starting out or if you have very few items for sale. But beware- building a large inventory without the cost-of-goods-sold data will cost you a lot of tedious work later. Luckily, Square does provide great ways to export your data which is helpful at any stage of business. The sentiment I agree with most suggests that businesses outgrow Square quickly. The processing costs are acceptable at first, but as your sales volume increases and the need for basic features grows, the cost becomes unreasonable for the value.
Pros
- Trustworthy
- Efficient Service
- Caring
- Respectful
Cons
- Charges for Enhancements
- Inhibits Innovation
- Less Generous
