What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?
I love the flexibility when it comes to dashboard design. Other tools I've used in the past aren't nearly as flexible. The UI is also simple and easy to navigate, big fan of that because tools like this tend to get complicated for both analysts and end users of the data. Lastly the folder and dashboard management is great. Easy to setup security / permissions via folders and give people access to what they need.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The flexibility to create dashboards and visualizations that you want. You can get real fancy with buttons, actions, to pop windows in and out, dynamically change colors, etc. If you can think of it, very likely there is a way to make it happen (though it'll take effort to make that happen, and remember you'll have to manage these customizations should they break).
What do you dislike most about this product?
What I dislike is similar to what I love, but slightly different. Tableau offers so much flexibility and customizations that it can seem daunting to create a dashboard. Constantly running into things I'd like to do, but it isn't intuitive, so you need to Google how others accomplished the same thing. Overall, flexible platform, but not intuitive and may take a dedicated resource to manage / build out.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Try before you buy!
