What differentiates UKG Pro from other similar products?
The ability to get very specific and in the detail of a payroll check. One can open up a payroll check and make necessary updates and changes to that specific and individual check. The system also has a very robust custom report writing system powered by IBM Cognos analytics. If one knows a bit of coding and takes the time to learn how to use this part of the product, it is a very powerful feature that can provide not only insights into the organizations data, but also integrations to other vendors.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The onboarding module of the product is top notch. It can easily be paired with the UKG provided recruitment platform or with other applicant tracking systems. New hires complete their paperwork online before their first day by using a computer, tablet or smart phone. The data seamlessly transfers over to payroll with digital copies of the necessary paperwork. Additionally one can integrate with E-verify to cut down on administrative tasks in completing e-verfiy. This section of the software has saved my organization over $50,000 annually and has more than paid for the product.
What do you dislike most about this product?
UKG partners with other vendors for parts of their software solution. While the core HRIS and payroll system is UKG software, they partner with other vendors for time and attendance (WorkBrain) and benefits (PlanSource). At times the API transactions between these two areas and payroll can create errors which can affect an employees pay and use of the system.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you have multiple companies, standardize your time keeping and benefits products first before implementation. Especially on the benefits side, it is designed to have 1 set of benefit plans and vendors. While possible to have multiple, it is a lot of extra work to build out specific populations. Furthermore, one must evaluate their current talent in their HR, Payroll, Benefits and Talent Acquisition teams. The software is designed for people who can easily learn software and "pick up on it". If one struggles to learn or refuses to learn new software they will struggle with UKG.

What differentiates UKG Pro from other similar products?
Advanced scheduling features are not matched by any other vendor we reviewed.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Product configuration is very flexible which allows for dynamic set-up which meets just about any business requirement. Configuration is logical and easy to update.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The business structure feature is immensely important and can greatly complicate workflow if not optimally set up from the start. Explaining downstream effects is not adequately emphasized during go live preparation and configuration and can have long term consequences. Integrations are a bit rigid and customizations are either very difficult or simply can not be done depending on your business requirements.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Network with other customers of similar size in your industry! UKG has lots of great features! Its helpful to know how others have utilized those features to suit their business requirements and which features may have fallen a little short.
