What differentiates Veeam Data Platform from other similar products?

Veeam Data Platform is a shield that protects us from any type of ransomware, and in case that one ransomware event happens, it has constantly prevented us from falling behind because we can continue doing our work thanks to the restoring of clean and perfect backups. In our internal teams, it has provided us with enough confidence that we can work from anywhere knowing that our data is being protected and our security measures are very high. This level of trust is something that is not easily achievable, as other tools often fail in recovering crucial data or even backing it up, but it's not an issue that we have with Veeam.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Veeam Data Platform is one of our most essential tools when it comes to protecting our data. I like that it has many other tools other than just backups, it also detects and identifies majority of our threats that can compromise our data, and helps us take steps towards improving our security. This software not only helps us solve any security problems, but also take steps to make sure that the incident doesn't happen again, as it has really good pre, during and post incident response. The recovery structure is very well done and there are not any problems trying to recover data or servers.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Initial setup took longer than expected, which is not something negative, but it would be great to have guides that can help people complete the setup by themselves in order to choose the right model for our endpoint devices. Thankfully, we relied heavily on the onboarding support team to make sure that we didn't commit any mistakes and they were very responsive and helpful during the entire process, which is something that is really appreciated. I would also like to see more integrations with communication tools such as Slack or Teams for better risk alerts.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

My recommendation is to take any help that is offered to you during the implementation process, and especially with the support team, use it as a resource that is there to guide you during the entire process, as they are responsive and very friendly. Also, use the immutability features available since this can be really helpful so that your data is not altered in any way, especially with the ransomware attacks that evolve every day.

It's advanced features can require steep licensing costs and complex initial setup.
