Jira in Our Engineering Team.
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Jira from other similar products?
One of the biggest ways we rely on Jira is for managing our development sprints. With multiple teams working on different aspects of our infrastructure—network automation, backend services, and customer-facing applications—we need a single source of truth for everything that’s happening. Jira’s boards keep us aligned, ensuring that tasks move smoothly from planning to deployment. Plus, its integration with Bitbucket and Confluence means we can link code commits and documentation directly to issues, keeping everything connected.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Something I really appreciate is the way Jira handles automation. Setting up rules to auto-assign tickets, transition statuses based on commits, or even notify stakeholders at key stages has saved us a ton of manual work. It’s also great for tracking dependencies—when a backend API needs to be completed before a frontend update can roll out, Jira makes sure nothing slips through the cracks.
What do you dislike most about this product?
How overwhelming Jira can feel for new users.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Jira has been a game-changer for how we manage projects. It keeps our development cycles structured, reduces miscommunication, and ensures accountability across teams. The ability to link support tickets to development tasks also helps our engineers see real user issues and prioritize fixes accordingly, improving our overall product quality.

Jira-rigging Our IT Success
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Jira from other similar products?
Jira is the kind of tool you don’t fully appreciate until you’re deep in the trenches of IT support. It’s not just a ticketing system—it’s our command center for tracking issues, managing projects, and keeping our IT workflows structured. In a communications company like ours, where outages and technical issues can directly impact business operations, having a reliable, structured, and customizable issue-tracking system isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
One of the biggest advantages of Jira is its adaptability to IT service management. We’ve customized it to handle everything from standard troubleshooting tickets to large-scale infrastructure upgrades. When our network team planned a company-wide VPN migration, Jira helped break the project into manageable tasks, assign responsibilities, and track progress in real time. On the support side, every IT request is logged, categorized, and prioritized, so nothing gets lost in an inbox black hole.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Jira can feel overwhelming if you don’t set it up properly from the start. Its flexibility is a double-edged sword—too many workflows, custom fields, or automation rules can make it more confusing than helpful.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Jira is an absolute must for IT teams managing a high volume of requests. It’s not just about tracking tasks—it’s about ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and continuously improving our IT operations.

- Continually Improving Product
